The 3rd international BBMRI-LPC workshop “Biobanks, Data and Access” will be held in Tartu, Estonia on 26th-28th of August 2015

This year we have had a huge interest towards the workshop. Although we couldn’t welcome all the applications, we accepted more participants as ever – we are now waiting 36 people from 13 different countries – Austria, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom and Vietnam.

The aim of the event is to bring together young investigators (postdoctoral researchers, PhD students) and professionals from health care, universities and industry with an interest in biobanking, working in diverse fields of functional genomics, complex disease phenotypes and , implementation of personalized medicine, and inspire them to conduct research beyond the borders of their own disciplines.
Please note: There is no course participation fee, accommodation expenses for three nights in Tartu will be covered, participants have to cover their own travel costs.
The first workshop “Practical Biobanking”, held in Tartu in 2013, brought together enthusiasts from different countries, most of them from Eastern Europe. Topics discussed included recruitment of gene donors, sample and data collection, depositing of sensitive data, quality management and harmonization, privacy and ethical issues, cross-border exchange of samples and data, as well as study design, bioinformatics, and statistics tools for biobanks.
